Follow the lawn signs to discover the stories of the Rondo diaspora through photographs and poetry.
Photographer Chris Scott, poet, Hawona Sullivan Janzen; and poet, Clarence White join forces to lift up the stories of the Rondo Diaspora. The artists, all of whom have connections to Rondo, spent the last 18 months documenting the lives of neighborhood elders. Select images and poetry excerpts were printed onto lawn signs and installed on the grounds of the Hallie Q Brown Center for Northern Spark.
Following the festival the signs will be hosted in the yards of community residents for the rest of summer. This project is funded by the McKnight Foundation through the Center for Urban & Regional Affairs’ Artist Neighborhood Partnership Initiative (ANPI), and an MRAC Arts Activities Support Grant with funds from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund of the Legacy Amendment.
